INFORMATIVE SPEECH

VALUE STATEMENT, ATTENTION GETTER and MOTIVATION STATEMENT:
I am a Tough Mudder! Just because I work diligently to achieve such grandeur doesn’t mean you feel the need to do the same. By the end of my speech, I hope you will want to be a Tough Mudder to! Would anyone consider spending $100 for the opportunity to run 12 miles through fire, ice and mud for a beer and a sweatband? Most of you are probably thinking “No…what is this guy talking about?” Well the answer is simple. You are sure to gain much more than promised when you join the ranks of Tough Mudder challenge participants.

CREDIBILITY STATEMENT:
I feel confident discussing this event because I have done extensive research will participate in the next challenge.

PURPOSE STATEMENT/POSITION STATEMENT/PREVIEW OF MAIN POINTS STATEMENT: Good morning, my name is ___________. My purpose is to generate interest for a great cause. I believe each of you will want to say YES, I am a Tough Mudder to! Today, I will tell you about a challenge event, why you may feel insane if you participate, how your actions impact others.

TRANSITION: First of all, what is a Tough Mudder?

MAIN POINT I:
According to Tough Mudder web pages, “… it is a 10-12 mile obstacle course designed by British Special Forces to test all around strength and stamina, mental grit, and camaraderie.” From my perspective, it is designed to be one of the hardest things you will ever do. It’s an endurance event, but not a competition. There a no finish times or winners. You are just trying to get through it with the help of your fellow Mudders, and in the end all you get is what I mentioned before: a beer and a Tough Mudder sweatband.

TRANSITION: Next, let me tell you about the different kinds of obstacles that may have you thinking you are insane.
