Information systems and software applications available to various organizations enhance productivity and allow businesses to perform at their peak performance. In today’s information technology world, it is essential that these resources be taken advantage of by the employees in a company. Three departments within a company that benefit a great deal from information systems and software applications are human resources, management and accounting. Human resource departments use information systems and software applications on a daily basis to manage employees within a company. There are a multitude of software applications which are used by a single department. For example, they may use an application to process new job applications. This application has the ability to sort candidates by specific criteria such as college degree, skill in required field and proficiency in required technical applications. Additionally, the human resource department uses various applications to monitor employee turnover and a different application to screen job applicants. The use of software applications increases the overall efficiency and effectiveness of the entire company. The human resource departments use information systems to run these software applications. Most companies have a life cycle replacement plan where information systems are replaced every few years to keep up with technological advancements. By using information systems and software applications, human resources are able to hire the best employees for the job openings and effectively manage the data received. Management uses information systems and software applications to manage their employees and to perform day to day operations.
