Movie Review : The Pursuit of happyness
The Pursuit of happyness was a drama film based on a true story about a man named Chris Gardner. It was directed by Gabriele Muccino. It stars Will Smith as Chris Gardner and Smith’s son Jaden Smith who acts Gardner’s son, Christopher. Will Smith was nominated for an Academy Award and a Golden Globe for Best Actor. The film is set in San Francisco in 1981. It was about time which Rubik’s Cube comes up. The film is about Chris Gardner who invested the family saving in portable bone-density scanners. He tries to demonstrate and sell them to doctors. However, they do not sell as they are better than the current technology at a much higher price. The white elephant financially breaks the family, bringing troubles to the relationship with his wife that leaves him and moves to New York. Without money and wife, but committed with his son Christopher, Chris sees the chance to fight for a stockbroker internship position which has a six months training program without any salary at Dean Witter. During this time, he becomes homeless and has all sorts of difficulties with his son. Nevertheless, he is trying to do his best. I recommend this film. It is a great movie that depicts a love of a father for his son. In the film, I think the scene is the best scene that when they play the basketball, Chris says to his son. “Don’t ever let somebody tell you. You can’t do something. People can’t do something themselves, they wanna tell you you can’t do it. If you want something, go get it.” It makes you heart feeling and touching. There is a great lesson that is learned in this movie and it shares the struggles of everyday life.
