Industriousness: Family and Filipinos

The word “industrious” emerges almost unchanged from the Latin “industris” which means diligent, industriousness”. Industriousness is expressed in how well we work. It is both qualitative and quantitative, and is also often very subjective. Industriousness involves a productive engagement in our lives, an avoidance of laziness, and a striving to accomplish some form of excellence in our endeavors.

Martin Luther King, Jr. said:

“If a man is called a street sweeper, he should sweep streets even as Michelangelo painted, or Beethoven composed music, or Shakespeare wrote poetry. He should sweep streets so well that all the hosts of heaven and Earth will pause to say, here lived a great street sweeper who did his job well.”

 Industrious people demonstrate the following characteristics: * They hate to waste time at meaningless tasks
* They look for opportunities to make things better
* Once an assignment is completed they do not wait to be told to start something else. * They always seem to have something to do and they try to do everything well.  
 Industrious people are very attractive to employers and are usually the first ones to be promoted.  Industrious people use their time well
 Industrious people normally learn more than their peers

ADVANTAGE OF HIRING FILIPINO WORKERS
*           INDUSTRIOUS          -           Filipinos working abroad are industrious.  They are willing to work even on extended hours, during holidays and rest days when the need arises.  In some other countries, particularly in United States, Canada and other European nations, it is not unusual for Filipinos to have two to three kinds of job simultaneously.  They work fast, reliable and need minimal supervision.
