REPORT ON INDUSTRIAL VISIT TO P.V.NARASIMHA RAO ELEVATED EXPRESS HIGHWAY, HYD (IV B.Tech I Sem). The Department of Civil Engineering has organized an Industrial Visit to P.V. Narasimha Rao Elevated Express Highway, Hyd. for the IV B.Tech. I semester students on 10.09.2009 A total of 51 students along with 2 faculty members (A. Ramesh & V. Revathi) visited P.V. Narasimha Rao Elevated Express Highway, Hyd on 10.09.2009. A brief note on P.V. Narasimha Rao Elevated Express Highway, Hyd is elaborated below. A photo of students along with faculty is attached herewith. INTRODUCTION Hyderabad is one of the fastest growing cities of India. The city is expanding day by day because of the development and economical activities. The basic requirement for the development a city should have infrastructure like Roads, Railways and Airports with proper inter connectivity for the city and with well planned network to reach such places. P.V.Narasimha Rao elevated express highway is one such structure constructed in Hyderabad stretching to a length of 11.4 Kms starting from Sarojini Devi Eye Hospital, Mehdipatnam to Aramghar ‘x’ roads to reach the International Airport in less time. It is Asia’s one of the largest flyover. This project is being executed by Simplex Infrastructures Private Limited, a company pioneer in construction of roads & bridges, commenced in year 2006 and is in its completion stage by the end of September 2009. CONSTRUCTION Foundation: All the piers were constructed after soil exploration by deep foundation method. Various types of tests like SPT, Borings, etc were conducted on the soil. Foundations varying from 6m to 14m depth were laid before the construction of the piers. Super Structure: The deck slab of Express Highway was constructed using precast concrete panels which are casted at Simplex plant, Gaganpahad located at 12km from construction site. The span between two piers is about 35m and about 12 panels with a length of 2.92m were connected by tendons....
