Material handling safety: IGCAR uses a wide variety of specialized equipments and methods for handling construction materials. This equipment ranges from the most basic forklift to Cranes, Derricks, Hoists, Elevators and Conveyors. The hazards of using powerful equipment and of moving heavy materials require a wide variety of protective measures for employees on the site. The work talks about regulatory requirements and safe use for this equipment. The work covers safe rigging and slings for proper lifting, and safety requirements for specific types of Cranes, Derricks, Hoists, Elevators, Conveyors, and forklifts. Bearing this in mind the cranes, hoists, lifts are periodically tested and certificate issued for continuous use.

Industrial Safety Training Programme: Safety training is a part of Industrial Safety Training Section. Safety training for different categories of people is organized. Safety training for contract personnel, for supervisors and for engineers, is organized regularly. People from National Safety Council are also invited to deliver lectures apart from in house training. In addition, fire fighting training and life saving course are also organized. First aid course is regularly organized and majority of the employees are trained in first aid.

Industrial Safety Activities: Industrial safety activities include monitoring of physical and chemical hazards. Under physical hazards, noise and illumination level are monitored regularly. Ear plugs are used by the employees in case the noise level is high. Based on the recommendation glass cabin are made where noise levels are high. Cyclone protections, road safety, are also taken care by Industrial Safety Section.
