According to my personal competency chart, all of my abilities are in the middle range. Organizing, researching, talking initiative, delivering results, following instructions and entrepreneurial thinking are all pretty much on the same level. This tells me that my critical thinking skills have the ability to grow and adapt to different situations. Each individual competency will be able to compliment and assist each other because no particular competency is greater than the other. Organization helps refine research which brings confidence to talking initiative delivering end result. By having no skill be greater than the other, this improves my critical thinking skills because I can use all of those skills equally and not be so great in one skill to hinder the other skills.
According to my career profiler, the career that interests me the most is Air Traffic Controller. That is one job that requires communication skills and critical thinking to be on point. Knowing my competency strengths and weaknesses help me evaluate arguments because each one of my skills help me breakdown the premise, thus letting me understand the argument. With each competency skill no greater than the other, one does not overwhelm the other to cause confusion. Organizing helps me evaluate what a person is trying to say in chronological order both in grammar and storyline. If the person cannot explain a situation correctly and I did not have the organization skills necessary to decode it, the argument I will make in return will be confusing. After I can correctly decode the argument in chronological order, I will need my research ability to extract the important facts from emotional confusion. Then finally, talking initiative gives me the ability to encode the argument that I need to respond with to deliver results. Evaluating and analyzing arguments is important because it helps me understand the real premise behind any fallacies or rhetoric devices there might be. Let’s say that my researching skill is at maximum ability and my organization skill is at a minimum; I will be able to extract all the important facts and will be ready to prove a point however, if organization skills is low, the premise behind the translation will be lost. Not being able to put premise in words and the correct grammar is the same as having an invalid argument.
