25th July’11 – Rajiv glances at the crisp new offer letter in his hand. His joining date at UPSC would be 1st Aug’12. All his friends and well-wishers are elated that he had cleared all the rounds. As for Rajiv he cannot wait for the first day of the rest of his life to start. It was a new phase, he wanted to make sure he would work as hard as he could and make his Dad proud. Rajiv curiously wonders what his Boss and colleagues would be like. He has only heard about the corporate life and wanted to experience it firsthand. Also at the same time he is excited that in a little more than a month he will finally have his own spending money. He is thus looking forward to the new chapter of his life.
27th Feb’12 - Rajiv stared at the last dregs of the left-over cafeteria tea in his cup as his thoughts focused on what everything had come crashing down to. Images flashed through his mind. His first job, his dream company, his proud parents and now, everything was just one step away from being all over. He had already composed the mail, word by word, in his mind. One more sip and he would take the elevator down to his work bay, type the mail and send it to his supervisor marking his HR Rep. He thought about the repurcussions. He was resigning without a back up plan. His parents did not know about this decision yet. He was nervous and uncertain. But something at the core of his being told him he was moving in the right direction. This gave him strength.
