In 1950 Gwinnett county had a total population of just over 32,000 people. Over the last 60 years, we have seen exponential growth with a population of more than 800,000 people. For years Gwinnett has held the title as the county with the highest ranking school system in the state. Also many multi-national corporations such as NCR, Cadillac Jack, WIKA and many more have decided to headquarter their businesses right here in Gwinnett. With this spike in growth, the people of Gwinnett have seen a changing population structure, and a wide variety of cultural makeup. In the past, many people were drawn to Gwinnett because of its locations near Atlanta, where the most amount of jobs were available. However Gwinnett now boasts its own variety of jobs According to web research, Gwinnett is home to more than 400 international companies, and 650 high-tech firms including Primerica Financial Services, Scientific-Atlanta (now Cisco) and Home Depot [satellite offices]. Just recently, Gwinnett celebrated their success as a growing community for economic center of global businesses with a community in Seoul called Gagnam-gu, South Korea. This council, the Gwinnett Global Business Council was formed to help Gwinnett Econ Development increase foreign investment into the Metro-Atlanta area. This global recognition from the Chamber of Commerce is paving the way for more international business to make their headquarters here. The steady growth in Gwinnett’s economy and commerce has brought about a major increase in birth rate and a variety of different age groups. With many businesses calling Gwinnett home, we are seeing an increase in many different ethnicities and cultures.
