Abstract
This study explores the experience of in-service teachers on how they evaluate their students and how they evaluate their own teaching in Malaysia English as Second Language (ESL) classroom. The study also investigates how teachers improve themselves and how they upgrade themselves professionally in order to face the challenging world which is changing from time to time. Types of evaluation used and rationale are discussed in detail with the participants of this research. Participants of this research used formative assessment more often and trusted formative assessment more. Next, obstacles and difficulties faced by teachers and how they overcome them are discussed in this study. In this study, the idea on how to plan a lesson is discussed with the participants too. This study is actually meant for those teachers-to-be where they can read and learn more from those experienced in-service teachers. In-service teachers are encouraged to have a look in this study in order to open their eyes to others’ experience.

Teaching career is a respectable career in our society. We know that teacher is the engineer who helps to build the character of our children. The teacher is the maker of man (Sir John Adams, n.d.). The knowledge that we gained and how successful we are today, part of it is the hard work of our teachers. Teacher plays the role of giving us guidance and helps us to gain knowledge and work for our future. However, the path of being teacher is not that easy as what we think. Long ago, there was some misconception about teachers were those who failed to apply to further study in local university or those with a very bad result in their SPM.
