Importance of Teams
I might improve efficiency and customer service in my department to focus on teamwork would be to focus on the problems that exist within the team. The next step would be to research the team and figure out what their advantage points are and what they need help on. The third step would be course of action, which may be just to re-arrange the team. The fourth step would be to involve the rest of the team in on the plan. This will get individuals involved in the decision. The final step would be to compare the accomplishments with the originally planned objectives. If the results are what are desired, the process just needs to be reviewed and renewed to allow corrective actions.
Teams are essential to health care because each team member has his or her own personal uniqueness, like his or her skills, different attitudes, personalities, and different values. Every person on the team can bring his or her level of motivation, how they react to each other and how they accept one another suggests the need to focus on individual characteristics that have been found to contribute to teamwork, as "pre-requisite characteristics of effective teamwork" (Leggat, 2007, para. 5). Using Teamwork in other industries such as auto racing, for example, in auto racing teamwork would be all four tires changed by a team. In the military, there are squads, or groups of individuals called platoons. Platoons are a company of soldiers who form a tactical unit commanded by a lieutenant and divided into several sections. These are examples of how teams work together in other industries.
