<center><b>"HIGH SCHOOLS MUST PROVIDE YOUNG PEOPLE WITH ADEQUATE SEX EDUCATION BECAUSE IGNORANCE CAN BE HARMFUL"</b></center><br><br>The largest gulf of understanding still remains between the parents and the youth especially in the area of sexuality. Sex is a natural part of life, and when questions arise, they can be discussed in a matured way without condoning certain behavior. Relying to that, we realize that sex education is important to be inserted in a person's life. Therefore, sex education in high schools is very necessary for youngsters to acquire information, form attitudes, beliefs and values about identity, relationships and intimacy. Sex education also encompasses sexual development, affection, body image and gender roles. In other words, it is about learning how we grow, reproduce and change over the years. It also includes a positive view of sex and the safety involved on sexuality. Regarding to the importance of sex education, I want to state my stand here that I strongly agree that "High schools must provide young people with adequate sex education because ignorance can be harmful".<br><br>Sex education in high schools helps young people to be more prepared for life changes such as puberty, menopause and aging. Sex education can develop skills and self esteem to help students enter adolescence. It helps them in knowing that the sudden few changes are okay and normal. For example, girls would not get shocked, panic and afraid at their first menstruation once they already had the knowledge about it. <br><br>Young people can also learn to appreciate and recognize their own sex: bodies just as good, beautiful and special as other God's perfect creations. Moreover, it delivers confidence on them to value themselves and others. Sex education helps them understand the place of sexuality in human life and loving other people. They will learn to enjoy their sexuality, behave responsibly within their sexual and personal relationships.<br><br>Youngsters are

From seeing shows like 16 and Pregnant and Teen Mom on MTV, it is not hard to witness the truths of what some of these young women go though. There have been many of the teens on the show that have trouble with school or have had to drop out. A lot of them also face major money issues because they themselves cannot hold a job while raising their child. Teens are not thinking about the consequences they will encounter in the long run, and it is causing a huge dilemma. Although there are still troubles with teenage pregnancy, there are people out there who are putting forth effort to help the social problem. Countless organizations are beginning to show up and attempt in helping these teens. There is a group that started in Austin, Texas called The Tandem Teen Prenatal and Parenting Program. “Tandem has been effective in improving the health and well-being of teenage parents and their children and has more than halved the national subsequent pregnancy rate of 24% among its clients by more then half” (Rosell, Scarborough, Lewis, 2010).     "Sex Education: Should Condoms be distributed in Schools?" was very eye catching to the reader. The author of this essay Rush H. Limbaugh III, points out a lot of good points here which I highly agree with. Sex education can be very tricky, what are its limitations? What should the students be taught and what shouldn't they be taught? If my memory serves me right, I don't remember ever receiving any condoms from any schools I attended. From what I recall from my sex education class, it was clear that abstinence was the right way to go. We were all well informed of the consequences of having unprotected sex and protected sex for that matter. And for most of us who hadn't had sex yet, the videos that were shown in class were good enough to ensure us that abstinence was the way we were going. But for those schools that are issuing out condoms in sex education class, should that be allowed? I think that giving away condoms in sex education classes should not be allowed for several reasons. It pressures students into having sex. It makes students believe that having sex will be ok because they now have condoms to protect themselves from any diseases out there.
