As Schick and Vaughn described in chapter 6, “Science seeks to understand the general principles that govern the universe – not to produce gadgets” (p.165). Science and technology hold many similarities with a fine line to decipher between the two; however they are both very different with their own meaning(s). Science is definitely used when it comes to processing and manufacturing these types of items, technological devices, but is not the ultimate goal that is held by science. Ultimately, knowledge is what drives us to produce science and technology is driven to produce the manufactured goods.…

It seems odd to me to write a paper about the importance of technology in education. While there may still be skeptics within the field of education, I would imagine that most people would agree that a technology rich environment enhances a child's education at least to some degree. Even teachers who are reluctant to infuse technology into their lesson plans would have to see the merit of students using technology consistently in classrooms. Most of the recent research articles I've read on technology and classroom learning conclude not only that there is an increase in student achievement in technology rich classroom environments, but also an increase in student motivation, especially among at risk students.…

Science and technology have much in common but they are not exactly the same thing. Science deals with the natural world and how it works. It is the understanding of our environment and how it works. It is also the study of the laws that govern our universe. Technology on the other hand deals with the human made world. In other words it is applied science to everyday life. It is the study of ways people develop and use technical means. Tools and machines are examples of good technologies which help us do things quicker and easier. In short, science deals with ‘understanding' and technology deals with ‘doing'.…

The social and cultural factors - the attitudes and the beliefs attached to economic, political, and social organization - influence the role that science and technology play in a given society. In their turn, the spread of new knowledge, products, and processes derived from scientific and technological progress transforms social structures, modes of behaviour, and attitudes of mind. The role of technical change in the process of economic growth is recognized by all theories of development. But what precisely is that role? In particular, what part did science and technology play in the economic and social transformations that accompanied the Industrial Revolution from its beginnings? Answers to these questions can be neither easy nor, consequently, swift, requiring as they do a subtle analysis, a long-term historical perspective, and reference to examples drawn from different branches of social science [2, 14].…

Richard Feynman is a world renowned physicists, he is known especially for his help in the development of the atomic bomb. The invention of the wheel, electricity and wonder drug, penicillin has revolutionized human life. Now our life has become safer, easier and more comfortable than that of our ancestors who lived in precarious conditions, stifling heat of the sun, wrath of natural calamities were the constant threat to the very survival of our forefathers. There is a drastic change in the lives we are leading today and that we had 10 years ago. Science has changed the face of the world with great advancements being made in every field. But we all know that everything has both pros and cons. Science which has bestowed us with development, progress, expansion and growth has also brandished us with hostilities, destruction, violence, ruin, devastation, annihilation bloodshed, carnage and obliteration. Gone are the days when peace and tranquility used to prevail throughout the world.…
