The importance of personal responsibility is the most important ethic that you can exercise with the cultivation of personal responsibility comes growth in all areas of life. It is a matter of taking charge of your own life and your circumstances through well- directed thoughts, words, and deeds. Personal responsibility is very important because it is an obligation to oneself. It is your individual duty to ensure your good character and behavior irrespective of how you were brought up and what kind of conditioning you have received. Individual responsibility also includes being accountable for the degree and level of your health, wealth, success, and happiness. UPHOLDING ACADEMIC HONESTY

Upholding academic honesty means to gather information that can be useful to you, and for social support. You need to think and generate positive energy to see yourself through and everyone should do their own work and not take credit for others, and always quote others work and remain honest. Academic honesty is a commitment , even in the face of adversity, to five fundamental values. Honesty, trust, respect, fairness, and responsibility. Academic integrity is the pursuit of scholarly activity in an open, honest, and responsible manner. It is important because it gives you the needed credibility and confidence to succeed in your career and in life. Generally speaking, no matter if in life, school, or work academic integrity is something everyone should have. Without integrity there is nothing. IMPROVING READING AND STUDY SKILLS

As a student you are faced with the need to read and take notes on a lot of information. You will not get the most out of the time you will allot for studying if you read inefficiently. Here are some ways you can improve your reading and study skills. Do your heaviest reading assignment when you are most alert. A physical task takes more time to accomplish when you are tired. The same is true for reading tasks. Focus on what you are reading. Your reading will be slowed if you are distracted. Look over the reading material before you begin reading. You can quickly scan a page by looking for headings, bullet points, and cold letters. Avoid reading word by word. Your eyes can take in four to five words at a time. Don’t pronounce each word in your head as you read it. The actions of pronouncing words, even if not aloud, slows you down. Avoid straining your eyes. Never read with insufficient light, at an uncomfortable angle, or in bed lying down can result in eye fatigue that will slow your reading and concentration and may cause you to stop for periods of time. Avoid going back to read something unless absolutely necessary. Rereading interrupts your reading flow and slows you down. Reading a chapter correctly takes a lot more time than you probably spend now, but try this SQ3R method for just one class. Slowly add this system into your other classes too. Be patient and give this method 2 weeks to make a difference. At first, you'll spend a lot of time on this. Remember: You can study a lot of hours over the course of the semester or you can study all of those hours the week before your final. Study time rule: 1 hour of class = 2 hours of study time!

This reading method will seem slow at first, but the benefits will soon be clear: You will remember more of what you read, and you won't waste time repeating work you've already done! SQ3R Means:

1. Read the title - prepare your mind to study the subject. 2. Read the introduction and/or summary - think about how this chapter fits the author's purposes, and focus on the author's statement of most important points. 3....
