Why did we break away from Great Britain? We wanted our independents, so don’t you think by controlling the Philippines, Guam, and Puerto Rico we are acting like ”Great Britain”? Going into these country’s and trying to force your government ideas, putting your army in foreign land, and controlling there economics sound un-American to me. The government should consider what is at stake if we enter these foreign territories. If we try to imply our ways government ideas what would happen? That brings me to my first point; a self-governing country (the US) should not be able to submit our ideas or beliefs without consent of the countries. A self-governing state cannot accept sovereignty over the unwilling people. Like what Abraham Lincoln said “No man is good enough to govern another man without that other's consent”. Trying to impose your governments and laws, you’re are going to need more troops and ships, maintain your army’s in the Philippines Guam and Puerto Rico to protect these country’s and keep the people in order. Takes more money to occupy those territories, and that money we are spending could be put towards monetizing our infrastructure or put the money to repay our debt. The US should not get involved with their economy and do whatever they want with the materials and changing the prices. For example, by changing the prices of the exported goods and the goods being sold within the country’s could cause there economy to collapse, then the US would bail them out and that has to spend money. So does America want to look like the bad guys, or looking like the British and taking over, to much taxation on goods, putting our army in places where they shouldn’t be. If America try’s to enforce there ways of living on a...
