IMPACT OF THE INTERNET ON THINKING
Nowadays, thanks to developed technology, a vast of electronic devices, multimedia and computers can keep us stay in touch no matter where we are. Especially the Internet is becoming more and more important for nearly everybody as it is one of the newest and most forward-looking media and surely “the” media of the future. Internet surely has helped our lives better, but there’s an opposite idea of bad effects of Internet on our brains and our thinking, in the article “Impact of the Internet on thinking”, the author Alan Greenblatt talks about the debate of the impact of the Internet. Day by day, with the high speed Internet, people are more connected than ever. We study, work, entertain, shop, and even date online meanwhile saving times. Internet with its visual stimulation and constant distractions , it can interrupt important meetings, make driver distracted when driving and texting or phoning, which causes increasing deadly accidents. Moreover, some psychologists are proving that Internet might impact to our brain and the attention span, along with the concern if Internet addiction can be compared to chemical substances addiction. Along with the developed Internet, a lot of debates about redefining intelligence have been going on. It can’t deny that we depend on Internet so much that a lot of people think they can’t do anything without Internet just for a day. People now “instead of memorizing information, we store it digitally and just remember what we stored”, Peter Suderman, a writer for an online magazine noted, everything can be looked up instantly, so nothing needs to be remembered. Lee Rainie, who directs the Pew project said about Internet: “You can gather up information quickly and easily, which might have taken you enormous amount of time in an earlier age”, Internet helps gather up information quickly and easily.
