When you’re in the workplace and are required to sit in a desk for long periods of time it is crucial to have good ergonomics to prevent discomfort and future injuries. Some tips that will help prevent these problems are by using an adjustable chair, resting eyes periodically by focusing on a distant object, stretching arms and legs, and periodically adjusting monitor, keyboard and chair to avoid getting muscle fatigue from being in the same position for a long time.
Having good ergonomics has many advantages .Some advantages are that you will have greater productivity. Employers have found that when they put their employees in an ergonomic environment the productivity level goes up and that the number of complaints they have lessen as well. It also reduces the number of sicknesses. Workers that constantly feel got at their workplaces come to work more often. Having less stress and fatigue improves the immune system and makes employees feel much better. If they are healthy they will not have to call in sick and be more productive.
Some disadvantages of poor ergonomics are that workers will get injured and sick. This can cost the business up to $600 every year in lost working hours. It can also lead to workers performing poorly and being less efficient.
