Illuminati
What is the Illuminati? Is the Illuminati even real? I had never heard of it until my junior year of high school. One of my teachers mentioned the word in class. She associated it with some of my favorite celebrities, so I immediately began questioning. Although what I heard about these music artists disappointed me, I suddenly became very intrigued with this fascinating, mysterious, alarming theory, so I went home and began my research. I found that many people feel that the Illuminati is a secret society that revolves around wealth and power. Through popular culture, known celebrities claim their membership of the society and have displayed hidden messages and secret meanings not meant to be relayed within song lyrics and music videos.
The word “Illuminati” means “the brethren of the free spirit” or “the enlightened ones,” meaning these humans can do anything as long as their souls are above sin (Browne 133). Through this secret organization, humans can do anything through sin and Satan. The Illuminati was founded in Bavaria in 1776 by Adam Weishaupt, who was a professor at Ingolstadt (“Illuminati,” Columbia). The king of Bavaria found out about the Illuminati, but there was no way to rid the world of them because they had already made their way inside governments (“Statue of Liberty”). The Illuminati was and still must be all about secrecy. Secrecy is the key for the success of the organization (Marrs 237). They have remained well-hidden for over 200 years now (“Statue of Liberty”). How terrifying is that?
Weishaupt had a close affinity with the Free Masons (“Illuminati” Columbia). Consequently, the Illuminati is still closely tied to this other secret organization. The Free Masons are a fraternal organization, the world’s oldest and largest brotherhood, much like the Illuminati. Brad Meltzer believes there are still roughly six million Free Masons in the world today. Many are not only Free Masons, but members of the Illuminati also. Therefore, between
