Sam Palmisano is Chairman of the Board, President and Chief Executive Officer of the IBM Corporation. Mr. Palmisano was appointed to this position on January 6, 2003. Previously, he served as President and Chief Operating Officer. He began his IBM career in 1973 in Baltimore, Maryland. Since then, Mr. Palmisanohas held a series of leadership positions. Mr. Palmisano is a graduate of The Johns Hopkins University. Mr. Palmisano was awarded an Honorary Degree of Doctor of Humane Letters from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute in September 2005. In July 2006, he was awarded an Honorary Fellowship from the London Business School.
