Iago is a very deceptive person in the play Othello. Iago manages to mess and manipulate all the characters that are in this play. He is a major impact in this story and is Othello’s villain in this play. in this essay I want to ask a few questions. Why does Iago want to manipulate Othello into believing Desdemona has been unfaithful? Why is he considered the main villain in this play? How is it that Iago is it that Iago is so successful to manipulate everyone around him?

Why does Iago want to manipulate Othello into believing Desdemona has been unfaithful? Iago wants revenge against Othello for not giving him the position of lieutenant. Iago is very peeved that he was put as lieutenant, so he wants to try and ruin Othello’s relationship with Desdemona. And the ending result Othello kills Desdemona and Iago wins.

Why Iago is considered the main villain in this play? Iago is a very smart character in this play. He thinks of something fast if something unexpected comes up. Iago is able to manipulate almost everyone in this play. Iago is twisting everyone to believe that he is the only one that can be trusted.

How is it that Iago is so successful to manipulate everyone around him? Iago is successful with his surroundings working with him. He is also successful because of the trust that the others have for him. They believe he is there for them and that he is an honest friend. But only in the end do they find out what Iago really is.

Iago was defiantly the most deceptive character in this play. Some say he is the biggest villain in book history. But this book was a great one to read and I hope you spot Ingo’s deceptiveness like I did. Markwood-othelllo.wikispaces.com
