The Cavemen of Long Ago

Story time!   All right kids sit down on the magic carpet.   It’s time to read a story called

The Cavemen of Long Ago.   Ok kids, what do you think the story’s about?   Bud, “Umm I think

the story’s going to be about a leader cavemen trying to hunt and survive in the winter.”   Good

prediction but what exactly is a caveman.   Umm a caveman is a man from long ago who tried

to survive through the roughest times.   “Correct,” good job Bud.   Ok, lets get started with the

story.

The Cavemen of Long Ago, written by Kayla Bressler.   Once upon a time a caveman

named Ukiohk woke up freezing. As he peeked out of his cave he saw nothing but snow covering

the land.   Ukiohk was a tall man 6ft 7" and weighing and about 120Ibs.   He was the leader of the

land and everyone respected him with honor.   Ukiohk told his family that lived him in his cave to

come outside to the white crystals.   He told everyone that the dreaded winter here once again.

Ukiohk walked out into the snowy blizzard and then turned around to his people and said

it’s going to be rough to eat.   The animals all migrated to find food, and all the berries and other

fruits died out through fall so our only choice is to go on a hunting trip to find the bison that have

migrated.   Ukiohk got all the best hunters and the five hunters grabbed their furs and their

weapons.   Their weapons were spears which is a sharp rock tied to a long stick.   They said

goodbye to their people and left to hunt the mighty bison through the freezing winds and snow.

Ukiohk knew they had to hurry up and kill the bison so his family back home don’t starve

to death.   He knew his family wouldn’t freeze because the mother of the tribe knew how to make a fire by rubbing two sticks together and everyone there had their own leopard skins and leopard

furs.

It was late at night and they didn’t see any animals anywhere.   They found a spot under
