What is Human Resource Management? Human Resource Management is found in every organization throughout the world. Human Resource Management deals with the employees, from the hiring process to the maintenance process. This paper is going to discuss human resource management in depth. Human Resource Management is the personnel and administrative department of every organization. Human Resource Management is “concerned with the ‘people’ dimension” (DeCenzo & Robbins, 2007). The role of the human resource manager is to provide assistance to employees that deal with Human Resource areas, to include customer service, hiring, and training and development. In addition, every manager in every job does some type of HRM, because a manager is always dealing with their employees in personnel and professional matters. Managers are only effective if they are effective to their employees. Managers have to be able to effectively manage their employees by “acquiring their services, developing their skills, motivating them to high levels of performance, and ensuring that they maintain their commitment to the organization are essential to achieving organizational objectives” (DeCenzo & Robbins, 2007). In the Army, Human Resource Management is no different than in the civilian workforce. The only difference that may be noted is that in the Army, Human Resource Management deals with Soldiers and in the civilian workforce it deals with civilians. In the end, they are all people, just with different titles. Primary Functions
