Southwest Airlines Motivation

This article that I found covers motivation at the southwest airlines (SWA). The way’s they motivate their employees could affect the way I handle and pick the jobs in my career path later in life. You know their motivation works well when their absence and tardiness are one of the lowest in the area. Southwest airlines is one of the most highly unionized airlines in the airline industry. With the employers taking charge and taking care of each employers, customers, and stockholders personal needs and values. I could see my self working for a business that treats their employees just like they do. I’d feel completely comfortable working every day at a position where I was treated well. They say that their employers come first, as their mission statement states, “To our employees: We are committed to provide our Employees a stable work environment with equal opportunity for learning and personal growth. Creativity and innovation are encouraged for improving the effectiveness of Southwest Airlines. Above all, Employees will be provided the same concern, respect, and caring attitude within the organization that they are expected to share externally with every Southwest Customer.” Everyone understands each other even if they all are ranked higher throughout the airline. They each might have been that low on the job sight an makes them understand each and every other employee. Rewarding employees for excellent performance to maintain loyalty, job satisfaction, an high level of personal motivation. They tend to have employees that have worked their for many years. One quote in the article was “Southwest Airline employee motivation is not an option- if you genially like it here, you stay; but one thing is for sure, if you don’t like it, you can not fake it for long.” Employee well being, customer satisfaction, and share holder gain are the three dimensions of performance evaluated.     Southwest Airlines was started 45 years ago in 1967 by two entrepreneurs: Herb Keller and Rollin King who had the right vision and culture by which to become successful entrepreneurial leaders. This vision was achieved as Southwest Airlines became the greatest airline in the USA. As a young business in the airlines industry, Southwest Airlines in the initial years confronted very tough situations, and it was due proper planning and with the assistance of its employees that kept Southwest Airlines afloat from sinking.
