Science has developed so much that it has almost taken the place of natural evolution; can we allow this to happen? Human Cloning should not be allowed because it is unsafe, effects the individuality and uniqueness of humans and because of the moral and ethical implications. “No person shall knowingly...create a human clone by using any technique, or transplant a human clone into a human being or into any non-human life form or artificial device…an embryo that, as a result of the manipulation of human reproductive material or an in vitro embryo, contains a diploid set of chromosomes obtained from a single - living or deceased - human being, fetus or embryo” (“Human cloning and other prohibitions now in force under assisted human reproduction law”). Because of the lack of understanding about reproductive cloning and the inefficiency of animal cloning, scientists and physicians strongly believe that it would be unethical to attempt to clone humans. Most attempts to clone mammals fail, about 30% of clones born alive are affected with large-offspring syndrome and other abnormalities. Several cloned animals have died prematurely from infections and other complications. The same problems would be expected in human cloning (“Cloning Fact sheet”). Human cloning is a cruel and an unsafe experiment. 98% of clones are either malformed, stillborn, or die immediately after birth (“Arguments Against Human Cloning”). When cloning Deoxyribonucleic acid (DNA) is artificially duplicated and planted into an embryo. This process results in the recreation of whatever the DNA was taken from. For instance, when Dolly the sheep’s DNA was recreated it produced a “twin” Dolly, who was biologically identical to Dolly. There are three types of cloning technologies: Recombinant DNA technology, Reproductive cloning, and Therapeutic Cloning.
