The cultural world of the Fourteenth Century.
The cultural life of the fourteenth century was also characterized by ferment. In literature, several writers use their vernacular languages to produce notable works. In art, the Black Death and the others problems of the century left their mark as many artists turned to morbid themes in their art works. The period produced many artists in different areas for example:
Plastic art the most important was Giotto his painting expressed anew realism, and his art works is considerate the advanced stage or precursor for the artist of the next century.
Francisco Traini: The plague or Black Death produced impact and a morbid fascination with death, that is visible in the art of period, especially and intense evidence in Francisco Traini’s fresco “The Triumphed of Death”.
Vernacular Literature:
Fourteenth century remained the language of the church liturgy and the official documents but, this century can sow the rapid growth of vernacular literature, especially in Italia for example: Dante, Christine Pizan and Boccaccio they use the Tuscan dialect common in Florence.
Dante (1265- 1321) come from old Florentine noble family. His masterpiece in Italia vernacular was the “Divine Comedy”, written between 1313 and 1321, this poem is basically the story of the soul’s progression to salvation one of fundamental medieval concern.
Boccaccio “1313- 1375”, he is known primarily for his prose also used the Tuscan dialect. “ The Decameron “, is considerate   his most important known work, this art work told us about ten young   people run away to a villa outside   Florence to escape the plague and decide to telling stories during the Black death time.
Christine de Pisan: (1364- 1430) the best known prose works written in defense of women “City of Ladies”. She denounced the many writers who had argued the woman needed it be controlled by men.
