Huffman Trucking
The Huffman Trucking Company is a national trucking company that has four hubs across the country in four different states. There are locations in Los Angeles, California, St. Louis, Missouri, Bayonne, New Jersey and Cleveland, Ohio. Looking at their different locations, I can see that they are running different Windows OS platforms throughout the company at these different locations. The different OS platforms range from 3.X and 9.X at the Los Angeles and the New Jersey locations and Windows 95, Windows 98, Windows 2000 Server Pro and Windows XP. Some of these locations are even using Mac Workstations and running OS10. They do not have any sort of structure of any kind of standardization in the software or the systems that they are using at the four locations. All of the locations should upgrade their phones to use VIoP especially the New Jersey and California offices since they are still using the old fashion PBX system or (POTS). They do not have voice mail nor do they have any caller ID, both of these features are a must have and any office today.
The company chose to use all of these types of systems, because this is how it was done in the early years of having computers on the work place. It seems that instead of have a standardized or central system they were you adding different pieces along the years and this is the reason that they are using the systems that they are using now. It looks like they tried to stay with the Microsoft Windows OS probably because the cost and preexisting knowledge from the previous usage. The thought process probable was that if they kept with the Windows products that they probably would have an easier time with the companies worker learning how to use the systems since most people use Windows based products at the homes so should not have any real issues learning how to use them at work.
