Hsm/240 Sentence Outline Week 4
Welcome to WritePoint, the automated review system that recognizes errors most commonly made by university students in academic essays. The system embeds comments into your paper and suggests possible changes in grammar and style. Please evaluate each comment carefully to ensure that the suggested change is appropriate for your paper, but remember that your instructor's preferences for style and format prevail. You will also need to review your own citations and references since WritePoint capability in this area is limited. Thank you for using WritePoint.

The five steps of the writing process are equally vital to the succession of any writing assignment, whether it is for work or school. The five stages include PREWRITING, PLANNING, DRAFTING, REVISING, and PROOFREADING. As our text (Arlov, 2014), explains, “Writing is not a single act, but a process composed of several steps,” (p. 3). Moreover, constructing a strong paper that is well-written (no matter how tedious it seems), requires efficaciously executing all five phases. It is crucial not to take shortcuts by eluding any step of the writing process.…

The WritePointSM suggestions were the avoidance of using salutatory titles, such as Miss O-Mara in my paper; avoiding feelings of affections, such as using the word regard, instead of using “in regards,” which was explained as a feeling of affection. Also, WritePointSM suggested not using the word “it” because it is undefined, and replace it with the word “concerning,” when in reference to the educational content. WritePointSM also gave the same advice as my instructor in the avoidance of using rhetorical questions in academic writing. It was explained that the intent of my paper should be to provide answers and not questions. Just as my instructor had suggested, WritePointSM also caught my incorrect usage of in-text citations, noting that I needed page numbers or paragraph numbers. All of…

    - I love fish, and salmon has the best taste for me. I love mac 'n' cheese because I love cheese and pasta (so good combo) also when I was younger it was the easiest to make for me so I grew up eating it. I love liver because in my culture kebabs are a well known food, and liver kebab was always one of my favorites, its tender, also not as fattening as the other meats.…

A: Modern technologies provide a possibility to use different computer programs, in order to check the quality of what has been written. However, the peer review process remains very popular. That is why people resort to this service. Of course, computer programs are constantly updated. They rely on grammar structures and rules, different styles, set phrases and idioms and seem to know everything. Nevertheless, their corrections are not always appropriate. While computers check mistakes mechanically, the editor or reviewer will not only correct spelling or grammar mistakes but also make remarks regarding the content and information used in writing.…

I think it is great that we have Writepoint as a tool for or college papers. Writpoint points out and recognizes errors that are most commonly made. I really like how this tool suggests comments and possible changes to the paper whether it is toward grammar and style. When I received my feedback from Writepoint on my Effective Persuasion paper I notice that there can be correction made to it. Taking in the comments and suggestions now will better my writing in the future. The first mistake starts in the beginning on my paragraph. I am not aware when I am writing in a passive voice. That is something I need to work on to make sure my writing is not tedious to read. I also have a bad habit of dividing two-part verbs and I use the word definitely too often. I need to watch out for using the same words and phrases excessively. I do not want my audience to get bored with my writing. By using a bit more of my vocabulary I can keep my essay entertaining and this may help persuade my readers…

When doing this project I never realized until after I did the super tracker and the nutrient intake report that I had a very unhealthy diet and that I need to make a change. My Daily Calorie Limit was 2000 and I ate 2811. When I did MyPlate it told me that I should eat at 7 ounces of grains per day with half of the grain intake being whole grains, eat three cups of vegetables, two cups of fruit, three cups of dairy, and six ounces of protein. Also I should consume no more than six teaspoons of oils per day, no more than 270 calories a day, and consume sodium intake to less than 2300 mg a day. According to the 2010 Dietary Guidelines, I should increase intake of fat free milk and milk products, increase physical activity, and choose foods that provide more potassium, dietary fiber, calcium, and vitamin D. My 24 hour intake was very off from both MyPlate and the dietary guidelines because I consumed large portions of meat and poultry and I…

Did they understand the words when they were spoken to them? Are they apple to read words associated with a photograph? Can they write words based on their knowledge and the lesson that was taught? Nutrition is taught every year in Kindergarten through 5th grade so a student of any level…ELL, SPED, Gifted, and Regular Education can be evaluated and previous years knowledge can be compared. Did the first grade beginning ELL student move up at least one level by second grade? Are they considered proficient by fifth grade? Portfolios can be made and follow the ELL student through school so that teachers can compare previous year’s work to the work they are doing that year. They can look for improvement in their English proficiency as well as the knowledge in the content areas being taught. As a teacher with ELL students I would not only look to teach them our English words for our foods but I would try to pull photographs of foods that might be important to their culture. I would try to find foods they are already familiar with and show them where they fit in the world of nutrition. Using this data would help create a comfort zone for them because they would at least recognize the photograph of the food and learn how we say it in…
