As defined by Bulia and Scott (1994), human Resource Planning (HRP) is ‘the process for ensuring that the human resource requirements of an organisation are identified and plans are made for satisfying those requirements’. (Armstrong 2006) HRP is highly important for the Dolman Hotel to put into place as it will help determine human resources to achieve its strategic goals. Human resource is said to consist of three clear steps, using these steps it can ensure the Dolman Hotel deal the demand and supply of labour. (Acas 2009a)
The first step requires forecasting the future people needs or known as demand forecasting. (Acas 2009a) This involves estimating the number of people that are required in the Dolman hotel and the skills and competences which they require. The ultimate foundation of a demand forecast would be an annual budget which would then be converted in to small activities for each department and decision on downsizing can be made. (Armstrong 2006)
