Introduction
Some organizations argue that training and development is a waste of organizational resources,as employees tend to leave after they have received the relevant training and development. However, training and develop employees can improve the efficiency of the working process of the organzations and may help organizations maximize their profit.. First let us understand the definition of training and development.
Training refers to the methods used to give new or present employees the skills they need to perform their jobs.Training might mean showing a new web designer the intricacies of your site, a new salesperson how to sell your firm's product,or a new supervisor how to fill out the firm's weekly payroll timesheets.Training is a hallmark of good management and a task managers ignore at their peril.Having high-potential employees doesn't guarantee they'll succeed.Instead, they must know what you want them to do and how you want them to do it.If they don't,they'll do the jobs their way,not yours,Or they will improvise,or worse,do nothing productive at all.Good training is vital.
Development is formal education, job experience, relationships and assessment of personality and abilities that help employees prepare for the future. The Washington Group example illustrates that although development can occur through participation in planned programs,it often results from work experience. As a saying" it is future-oriented,it involves learning that is not necessarily related to the employee's current job". (Jossey,1989,"managing the Training Enterprise",1st,ed and Heslett "Individual Development in the workplace"1st,ed,(SagePublications,2001, pp313-315 )
