Career exploration

Each and every one of us, at some point and time will start wondering and thinking about what we would want to be, where we will end up and what our purpose in life is. I personally started thinking about my future career when I was a freshman in highschool, but my interest and choice of careers/majors has changed throughout the year as I learn and explore more about myself and what I am interested in. As a freshman in highschool, I have always wanted to be a cardiovascular doctor. In 10th grade, I discovered that cardiovascular is not something I would be interested in after taking biology. Then, I thought being pharmacist would be something I would enjoy and be good at, because I was taking general chemistry at the time and I became interested and thought it would be good if I build my future career on something that I would enjoy and like. My search for what I want to do didn’t stop here, I changed my mind again after taking standard level IB(International Baccalaureate) chemistry my senior year, this led me to remain undecided for a while. After taking the focus 2 assessment, I came to know that I am an investigative, social and realistic kind of person who likes to solve problems and puzzles and work with other people. Thus, I will investigate about two careers that involves working with people and problem solving: physician assistant and social psychology. The self assessment has helped me determine and assess who I really am and what would fit my future career interest by evaluating my work interest, personality, skills, values and leisure. After taking these assessments, I came to know a lot of things about myself that I did not know before. According to my work interest summary, my top three work interests were investigative, social and realistic. I somehow knew that I am a kind of person who likes to investigate and explore about things but I never knew I was social. Based on the focus 2 assessment, my personality

I knew that I would probably go to college some where in state, come back to our little town and work as a nurse or in an office like my mom or nana. My computer teacher had us go on a website and answer a couple of questions to see what my range of my possibilities is, and of course one of the first ones was a nurse and human resources. Then I started looking deeper into the possibilities I had. The two I found most interesting were Epidemiology and Sociology. Both sounded very intriguing and in both professions I would be able to help people. I started to look at epidemiology, I noticed that if I would work really hard at it I would be able to work at the CDC (Center for Disease Control). It looked very interesting and the job outlook is very high. So my chances of getting a job is very likely. But as I looked for jobs at the CDC there was next to nothing. I still decided to do the presentation on it though. The presentation was very fun but presenting was a little scary. As the year progressed though I learned that in order for me to be able to become an epidemiologist I would have to enter an internship for at least a year then work my way up from a small college lab to the CDC. I would not end up in my dream work space until I am about thirty five to forty years old. So I started looking into sociology, and became very…

Let me start by analyzing the Triatify Assessment, this assessment gives me a better understand of the kind of person I am or let me say, who am going to become. I know this about myself because this is not the first-time people will say something like this to me. I’m a kind of person who loves to go out of my comfort to satisfy people around me,…

Ever since I was younger, I’ve had a large imagination, filling up my days dreaming up endless scenarios of the future. Thinking of possible careers was never a problem, but choosing out of the many life paths I wanted was. I alternated between wedding planner, creating a notebook filled with torn out pages of poofy dresses and possible wedding locations; author, stuffing short stories and poems into a floral folder; and psychiatrist, researching the process to become a doctor. The thought that these may not be options for me never crossed my mind. I only knew I would do whatever I could to live out the future I saw in my mind.…
