How to Save Money
hi........................................................Spending over saving has been a trend on the rise over the last few decades. While many teenagers view saving a portion of their money as very important, the value and benefits of saving on the whole are often overlooked. For this exact reason, the entire concept no longer has a high priority status in this age group. Teenagers get caught up in the urge to have the latest things, go out regularly, and impulsively spend and spend, leaving the amount of money left to save down to a minimum. They enjoy the momentary satisfaction of getting the things they want, when they are sought, instead of investing
Money Essay
Money has become a very crucial aspect of living. It allows us to provide ourselves with the basic needs of life such as food, clothing, shelter, education, and transportation, as well as forcing us to make realistic choices and place priority on our needs before our wants. This, however, does not seem to hold true for the younger generations of today, especially teenagers.

Nonetheless, in your article you have declared that teenagers do some foolish things. I truly understand that teenagers makes some thoughtless mistakes and can’t yet think straight however I can assure money takes a huge part in all of the problems the world faces till this very day with the cause of poverty and economically harassed parents who have to work late nights to pay for new school uniforms that eternally need replacing as teenagers mature and hit puberty, without teenagers realizing it can lead them to serious misconceptions and making bad decisions at the heat of the moment.…

As a child I did not have to worry about money. There was no need to, all the money I needed was to buy some candy or a favorite movie or CD. Every week I would receive an allowance which was ten dollars that I was allowed to do anything I pleased with. I thought this was a lot of money when I was young. When you're a child there never is a thought of having to save up in order to purchase something you really want. Childhood does come with its great moments but it's not as fun as it sounds. Being a child, you do not obtain all the freedom that you may…

I seriously had never looked at it in the way Amitia put it. I think it is good for a teenager to have a job because it helps them appreciate life more. They actually see the worth of items. I never looked at it as it was not teaching a teenager anything. I am still going to stick with my theory though, because teenagers who come from two parents homes and are used to their parents purchasing everything, this teaches the teenager to appreciate their parent’s dollar. I would agree though that the teenager who does not have parents could definitely fall into the category of purchasing things they should not. They will also fall into the category of not saving and will never learn. Some teens will come from…

As Dr. Dean points out, “Television, billboards, newspapers, other people: they’re all screaming at us to get money.”(Dean 2008). This tells us that people will try to get more money because everyone else is apparently doing so. This also points out that everyone is getting pressured to make more money because they want to be a ‘Good Member of Society’. As Dr. Dean points out, “Where are the messages telling us that it’s OK not to go all out for cash money? Barely audible.”(Dean 2008). This shows that lots of messages are encouraging us to get money. That points out we hardly see any messages saying that it is OK to not make much money. Although we get pressured to make money it does not help make us anymore…

In the article New Adolescent Money Attitude Scales: Entitlement and Conscientiousness, Ivan Beutler and Clinton Gudmuson introduced the rising problem of young adolescents developing the consumer value of materialism. “The growing importance of the financial world in the lives of youth as the transition to adulthood has illuminated the importance of money attitudes that lead to positive behaviors such as living within one’s means, paying bills on time, avoiding excessive debt, and so forth”. In recent years, the economic recession has taken a toll in our economy affecting both rich and poor families. High School students are having a difficult time finding a job as well. The oil prices are skyrocketing, home sales plummeting, retail stores falling, driving more teenagers than usual to look for employment. In the past, teenagers had a choice to work part-time or enjoying leisure time while receiving weekly allowances. Since most parents either lost their jobs or received pay-cuts from employers, their teen children are affected as well. In order to recover the necessities they once had, they must find a job. “It is impossible to quantify how many affluent parents have trimmed allowances in recent months…But interviews with dozens teenagers, parents, educators, and employers suggest that many youngsters from well-to-do families seem to have found a new work ethic as the economic crisis that has jeopardized their parents’ jobs and invenstments..”(Foderaro 977). Survey shows that more than two-thirds of teenagers in the United States hold part-time jobs. While teenagers seek employment during this tough market, they will soon contribute to their family, become financially responsible, and as well acquire skills for the future.…
