Introduction
Computers in the DLLRC provide access to:
• The RCCD Libraries’ web site, LAMP
• The Internet
• Microsoft Office® (Word, Excel, Publisher, Access, and PowerPoint) • Streaming Media
• Windows Applications (Calculator, Notepad, and Paint) • Scanning Software
You may login to the computer for one hour with your library or College Card barcode number. If computers are available at the end of your hour, you may check out the computer for an additional hour. There is no limit to the number of times you may check out a computer in a day; however, you may only check out one computer at a time.
Guidelines for Use of Library Computers
Use of the DLLRC facilities and equipment is subject to the “Standards of Student Conduct” in the Student Handbook and the RCCD Library Internet Procedure.
The library may examine any file, backup archive, electronic mail, or printer listing as part of routine system administration. The library monitors all computer activity and may terminate any computer session that is consuming excessive resources or is in violation of the Standards of Student Conduct or the Library Internet Procedure. Any infraction will result in the suspension or loss of library privileges, and may be referred to the Dean, Student Services for disciplinary action.
Opening & Saving Your Files
The computers in the Computer Commons are equipped with the following drives:
• USB – Open & Save
• Floppy Disk – Open & Save
• CD-ROM – Open & Save
• DVD-ROM – Open & Save
You may temporarily save your files to the “Documents” folder, but keep in mind that everything in the “Documents” folder will be erased upon reboot.
Software Installation
You may install instructional software only on designated computers in the DLLRC. You may use software CD-ROMs and DVD-ROMs that are “Read Only,” and do not require program components to be installed on the hard drive, on...
