How to Eat Healthy
There are many people that are overweight in the United States and that is because of poor food choices. In this paragraph, I am going to explain how to eat healthy and avoid unhealthy diets. The first step is to determine how many calories your body needs to function each day. The number of calories vary by person depending on your metabolism and how physically active you are. The second step is not to fear fatty foods. You need to eat fat from foods for your body to function correctly. The type of fats you should eat is monounsaturated fatty acids, which you should try to eat in a regular basis. For example, most monounsaturated fatty acids are olive oil, nuts, fish oil and various seed oils. You should mix vegetables or salads with some olive oil and for your snack a hand-full of mixed nuts instead of a candy bar. In addition, many more supplements contain good fats that you can take daily. The third step is to eat plenty of the right carbohydrates. Foods that are high in carbs are the body’s main source of energy. You have to eat carbs that are slowly digested by the body like whole grain flour, hearty vegetables, oats and unprocessed grains like brown rice. All this carbs are beneficial for the body since it makes the digestive system run smoothly. The fourth step is to eat larger meals early in the day. Your metabolism slows down towards the end of the evening and is less efficient at digesting foods. Moreover, you should eat a medium sized meal for breakfast, a large meal for lunch, and a small meal for dinner. Having this eating habit will help your body be more efficient the whole day. The fifth step is never skip breakfast. Studies have shown that people that skip breakfast are fatter than those who eat a well-balanced breakfast. The sixth step is to eat slowly which will acquire a habit that prevents overeating and obesity. Remember your brain needs about 20 minutes to get the signal that you are satisfied. The...
