      “Ethics refers to the study of moral values, principles, and rules, including the determination of standards of conduct and obligations for individuals and organizations” (Hellriegal D & Slocum J. page 34).   Valarie Young is in a very difficult position. On one hand, she has the right to say something about what she discovered. On the other if Valerie does come clean about her discovery, she could lose her job and have to go back home. But wrong is wrong and right is right. I would recommend Valarie to say something. The reason is because if someone else discovered this and says something, then there would be an investigation, then she would be required to tell the truth. Waters is clearly out of line. He is doing the opposite of what the companies policies and procedures which clearly says, “Personal payments, bribes or kickbacks to customers or suppliers or the receipt of kickbacks, bribes or personal payments by employees are absolutely prohibited” (Hellriegal D. & Slocum J. page 564).
The downside to Valarie telling what she knows could destroy her future and what she has already worked hard for in the United Sates. Valarie would be sent back because she does not have a VISA. Basically, Valarie did not really have a choice if she did not want to become a martyr for the ethics cause. “She decided to wait for a while before bringing these findings to light, at least until she was close to graduating from the M.S. program so that she could receive her degree. it seemed that the highly ethical stance would be to repot this right away, but I could also seemed sill to sacrifice herself and her own future for the sake of “outing” someone who had been so unethical”. (Hellriegal D. & Slocum J. page 564).
