How My Positive Outlook Benefits My Community
How My Positive Outlook Benefits My Community

My positive outlook benefits my community in many ways. Helping one person in my community can have a trickle down affect to everyone in the community. Whether it is doing something big or small to help the out community can change the way people look at our community. Your community, your school, your lifestyle is what you make of it. A Positive Attitude can change the way we live in our community. One experience my community benefited from my positive outlook, was when I helped my community youth group clean up parks during the summer. One way the community benefited from that was the parks where clean, and the people saw that we were doing something good for our community. As people saw that we were doing good for our community then may have a trickle down affect on them and they would want to do something for the community. A positive outlook can change everything about a community. That's were the trickle down affect comes in. You have a positive person then you have the people around the positive person and the people around those positive people. In way the positive is getting around it takes just an open outlook. Everyone has a little positive in them and if they put towards the community then community could benefit from it. Even the small deeds help, like picking trash up after yourself and of your friends will help. One deed of good I’ve done to help people in my community was when my friends and I were at the park playing a softball

How My Positive Outlook Benefits My Community

when I see an old lady carrying bags from one spot to another I watched her for a while and then I finally realized what she was doing. She was carrying bags from spot to spot because she couldn't carry them all at once. So I offered her my help she accepted and my friends and I helped her carry her bags home. While we were doing this another lady said “ God Bless You “ to all of us, she had seen our positive and then

Stranger Generosity...This morning I was sitting at the doctor's office waiting room. Struck up a conversation with a lady who had brought her mom in for some tests. We started chatting and the conversation led to running in marathons. I proceeded to tell her I was signed-up for the Avon 39 miles Walk in DC next month, however I wasn't too good at raising money. Without hesitation she pulled out a $20 bill and said put this towards your fund raising. Needless to say, I was very surprised and shocked a stranger would be so generous, BTW, her first name is Julie. I did get her full name and email address to thank her. Julie's generosity triggered me to send this note and ask you if you could assist in any monetary way, I would greatly appreciate…

Positive choices people make don’t just affect them. It could be inspiring to people that they do not even know. Queen Latifah for instance in her biography Ladies first Revelations of a Strong Woman, chose to make her music positive and to help and empower women by letting them know that whatever they have been through or where they came from, that they are “Queens” (p. 35) Women who have that positive outlook make positive choices, and it makes them feel good and confident. Some people have to change their identity to feel better about themselves. For instance, taking hormonal drugs to change their sex, and other people temporarily change their identity to get that self esteem they never had. Like Lucy Grealy in book Masks, she unfortunately lost half her jaw due to Ewing Sarcoma. (p 69-70) One Halloween when Lucy was in sixth grade, she decided she was well enough to go trick or treating and her mother thought on an Eskimo costume so Lucy put a scarf around her face and starting going throughout the neighborhood and she realized she felt so good because no one could see her face, she felt such freedom. But at the end of the day Lucy felt relieved being herself without the scarf because she felt no connection with that kind of happiness after living so many years sad and depressed.…

The website “News in Health”reported, “Research has found a link between an upbeat mental state and improved health, including lower blood pressure, reduced risk for heart disease, healthier weight, better blood sugar levels, and longer life” (“News in Health”). If people can attempt to stay positive during times of conflict, it can help increase their lifespan, which they can then spread the word about the conflict they faced. This can help other people understand what those people faced during the time of conflict and what not to do. The staff from Mayo Clinic declared, “Indeed, some studies show that personality traits such as optimism and pessimism can affect many areas of your health and well-being” (Mayo Clinic Staff). When people have an optimistic attitude they can help others as well as themselves. If people have an optimistic attitude towards others, than that could help the others have an optimistic attitude, which could lead to better health in those people. Another statement the Mayo Clinic staff stated, “Health benefits that positive thinking may provide include: increased life span/lower rates of depression/lower levels of distress/greater resistance to the common cold/better psychological and physical well-being/better cardiovascular health and reduced risk of death from cardiovascular disease/better coping skills during hardships and times of…

“…I give not because I have not, but if I had I would give” (Mosiah 4:24). Throughout my entire childhood and even into the teenage years I always wondered why my father was going out of his way to help other people within the ward at church, the community we lived in, or just anyone in general. Finally, when I was 17 years old, I was able to understand why he did what he does. At a high school cross country meet I was running my normal 5k race when I came upon an injured athlete named Abraham who was sitting on the side of the course. All my other opponents were ignoring him and running by to finish their races. I had the distinct impression within myself that I was to stop and help this young man. Abraham was 13 years old, a freshman in high school, in a lot of pain, and extremely scared. I asked what was wrong and he informed me he stepped on a large rock to take a short cut on the race course, slipped and fell down the ledge. Through my first aid training and the training I received in the Boy Scouts I was able to assess the damage done to his ankle and perform the needed care to comfort him until I was able to help him to the first aid hut approximately a mile away on the course. The feeling of worth and love I got from helping this young man with the knowledge I had was, I believe, partly why I was blessed with learning what I knew. All knowledge is good so long as it is used in a manner that is pleasing to God and is acquired with a love of learning.…

Everyday we went somewhere different, and about three days into the trip my family group leader had announced to my group that we would be going to the homeless shelter, I was actually thrilled by the fact that we were going. This was the one thing that I actually wanted to do. When we got there, we immediately started passing out food to all the people, after we were done surviving all the people, we had the chance to go and talk to them. Not only was it fun to get to know them and listen to there stories, but the looks on there faces when we were talking to them was honestly so priceless. You could tell how happy they all were that we were there to talk to them and asks them about their…

Reflection: Since I live close to portage Park I go there a lot and when I go there I see that there’s a lot of trash around and nobody picks it up. So I decided that the nice thing that I would do would be to pick up the trash and put in a trashcan. I know I’m not helping that much because people are going to keep putting trash on the ground but at least I know that I can help a little bit. At first it was a little weird because people started wondering why I was wear pink gloves and picking up trash but then this one older woman came up to me and thanked me for picking up trash because she didn’t like it when the park was dirty and after that I felt really good about what I was doing and I felt like what I was doing had purpose.…
