In recent years, immigration seems becoming a global controversial issue. People in the State even consider it as one of the most important national issue which may affect the future development of America. Many immigrants move to another country to look for better lives, job opportunities and education. They indeed have the potential power to affect the host country. Some people may think that immigration is more damaging to a host country. However, I believe the advantages brought by immigrants outweigh the disadvantages. Immigration is helpful to a country in the aspect of economic development. Moreover, immigrants play a significant role to add cultural richness to a society.

To begin with, immigration is one of the important aspects of boosting a country’s economy. Most of the immigrants would like to start a new business in the new place. According to the Small Business Administration, “immigrants are 30 percent more likely to start a business in the United States than non-immigrants” (Furman). New business definitely creates more job opportunities for people. Moreover, since there are immigrants, it boosts the demand for local consumer goods. In my home country, Hong Kong, most of the immigrants are from Mainland China. Since they are high income individuals and family, they tend to have high purchasing power. As a result, their spending increases the demand for consumer goods and bloom the economy market. Therefore, immigration is helpful in flourishing business and economy. Another contribution from immigrants is that they take part in increasing cultural diversity. Immigrations have affected the country’s culture in several different ways such as education. Take Albert Einstein as an example, he immigrated to the U.S. in 1933. He was a world well-known physicist whom discovered “Theory of Relativity”.
