How Do the Alcohol Commercials Affect Us
How do the alcohol commercials affect us?
-This is the most common question when it comes to commercials today. How do the commercials affect us?;what makes us buy the product?;and the most important why do we buy it even though we know it is not going to get us anything good?Influence of these commercials is very bad and is getting worse as the ad industry is developing.
-At first alcohol ads are more and more directed towards young people. In these ads producers are often promoting the idea that even an ordinary hangout with friends can not be complete without their product. The real example are Heineken's commercials. As we all know Heineken is world biggest beer producer.Almost in all of their commercials there are young people at the parties drinking their beer.you would now say:“Don't they think with their own head? How can anyone make them drink if they don't want to?It is inevitable to start drinking in the world where ads are everywhere:at the tv,radio newspapers even on t-shirts.An survey in USA has shown that kids till 7th grade don't even know what is the meaning of those ads,but when they see them on someone's t-shirt or see thatperson drinking they want to be like and it starts like that.
-Furthermore,ad producers are even starting to promote alcohol products in ordinary tv programes esspecially football matches.I esspecially remember one of these commercials. There were three guys and their team was loosing.Than one of them left and got back with beer's.And here comes the best part,he openes the beer and there are drops all over the bottle and it looks soo nice and as he openes them their team scores. It is so attractive, that even I (and I am extremely anti-alcoholic) would like to drink it.Sad but true.
-Also the companies are spending more and more money on alcohol ads.For example according to surveys in the USA alcohol industry generates more than $65 billion a year in revenue and spends more than $1 billion a year on advertising. The advertising

Drinking underage can be linked to advertising that is very persuasive to the minors. These advertisements, some say target children, but the alcohol companies deny. In efforts to prove the people wrong; alcohol companies have put forth their part into making an advertisement discouraging alcohol abuse. The advertisements make the young minded minors to think drinking can put on physical attractiveness, it is fun, or gives special powers to make the person better at athletics. Some would say the audience that is targeted in the beer advertisements, such as Bud Light, are indeed minors, seeing an alcoholic beverage and having the appeal to take action are different. One of the advertisements by Bug Light were shown on the Super Bowl commercials of people stranded on an island; they found a radio, but instead of using it to find help, they found a cart of alcoholic beverages and showed them having the best time on the island. The reality of this commercial is saying to teens, if you drink alcohol you will have the best time of your life. Especially, when those minors are being pressured into by their peers to take the shot,…

Throughout the years advertisement has played a big part in the growth and popularity of many products in our country. Since the 1920’s advertisements have been used for cars, clothes, food and materialistic things that people want or think they have to have. In the mix of all these advertisements, alcohol is the most used, sought after, and dangerous advertisement in the industry. After the prohibition the safety of the people has been the number one concern since alcohol hit the streets. The two main media tools that help advertising for alcohol are Televised programs and radio channels. These giant corporations make millions of dollars advertising for alcoholic beverages with having minimal advices on responsible drinking and reckless behaviors that can be caused primarily because of it. My personal believe is that too excessive exposure to alcoholic advertisement can increase consumption and influence people's attitudes towards alcohol especially for youngster as they have not formed the correct understanding of it.…

“Youth exposure to alcohol advertising on U.S. television increased seventy-one percent between 2001 and 2009 … according to an analysis from the Center on Alcohol marketing and youth (CAMY) at the John Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health. Johns Hopkins University, Youth Exposure to Alcohol Ads on TV Growing Faster than Adults (2010), http://www.camy.org/research/Youth_Exposure_to_Alcohol_Ads_on_TV_Growing_Faster_Than_Adults/index.html. A large factor in the increase of youth exposure is that these advertisements are being aired during programming targeted at underage audiences. Every product has the right to be marketed to its respective audience and allowing the control of alcohol advertising would wrongfully allow government intervention into the market. As long as alcohol is readily available, there will always be legal-age and underage consumers. A legal adult’s feelings concerning alcohol consumption, their surroundings, and pressure to be accepted by others are much greater influences than a magazine advertisement. If an underage drinker is attracted by an ad, it is because he or she wants to become the person represented rather than actually drink the…

As a child growing up I remember many occasions were I was exposed to some form of alcohol related activities. Just watching television on Sunday afternoons I would see commercials for beer and other alcoholic beverages. These commercials would glorify the beverages by showing young adults engaged in activities such as being at football games, a bar, baseball games, and other enjoyable activities. The Commercials don't show you the 45-year-old man who lost every thing because of his alcoholism, or the guy how had one to many the night before hugging the toilet. They also show things that kids like in the commercials. Budweiser for example has the bullfrogs and the chameleons. I feel that the alcohol industries are targeting youth and are willing to do just about anything in order to keep themselves out of trouble. I also believe that the advertisements are a contributing factor to underage drinking. I think that advertisements are acceptable if they are placed in a location which reach an "audience made up of at least 70% of adults over 21." In my eyes advertisers are making significant changes in order to reduce the problem of underage drinking. But we must see that the advertisers know the large amounts of money can be brought in from the youth. Even going to weddings I always wonted to drink because everyone just made it look so fun.…

While there is still a strong connection between alcohol and sports, alcohol distributors and manufacturers must carefully approach how they present alcohol together with sports in their TV commercials. While the FTC rarely fines alcohol advertisers, most people feel that they push acceptable limits with their inaccurate glorification and presentation of alcohol. Therefore, alcohol has actually resulted in TV alcohol ads being very creative and humorous. Coincidentally, Super Bowl TV ad spaces cost a few million dollars.…

Research has shown that between the ages of twelve and fourteen in Canada almost half a million children have drunk more then five beers at one sitting. These children see these advertisements on television and perceive them as promoting macho-masculinity, sociability, and working-class values. Although peer support and increasing age come into factor, research has shown that the greatest increase of under age drinking is influenced by advertisement. That smooth cold taste and that beautiful woman at your side are these ad companies' advocates, telling the youth of today that this is how they should act.…

Youth under the age of 21 drink about twenty percent of all alcoholic drinks and are drinking earlier than they did in the past and is getting to be more of a problem. “Effects of Alcohol Advertising Exposure on Drinking Among Youth” by Leslie B. Snyder published in 2006, makes a point about alcohol advertising affecting drinking among people under the age of 21. Leslie B. Snyder uses evidence including demographics, alcohol sales per capita, evidence used from surveys, and many other facts to support her claim that alcohol advertising contributes to increased alcohol consumption in youth. Snyder also uses reasoning to connect the claims to the evidence and stylistic or persuasive elements to emphasize her ideas and claim.…
