I. Introduction
It is generally believed that the most important thing for organizations is the economic performance. Today, we have to balance it. Organizations generally are considered as companies. However, it would be too simplistic to say so. Organizations also include associations, NGOs, governments etc… All these entities don’t have the same goals. For companies it is to make money and that is why we thought mistakenly that financial performance is more important. But mentalities are changing. Indeed, they know that social performance is also important to motivate workers, to work in symbiosis and to improve the productivity. Social performance is the application of a social mission of an organization that matches with its social values. Within companies, this can be compared with word such as Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR). On the contrary, the aim of NGOs is to solve a problem. They are non profitmaking organizations. Even if their aim is more social, it doesn’t mean that they don’t care about economic performance. Firstly, we will see how companies succeed in balancing their social and financial performances and then NGOs.
