How do I write the essay?
The following items are required when submitting an Experiential Learning Essay:

Essay: written and submitted in our Essay Template and including the following:
Be written in the first person
Address each essay subtopic individually, based on the four sections of Kolb旧 Model
Should not be written in the traditional essay style (i.e., introduction, body, conclusion)
Be based on your personal life learning experience, not on history, research, observation or experience of a third party
3,000 to 4,500 word count for essay topics eligible to be awarded 3 credits
1,500 to 2,100 word count for essay topics eligible to be awarded 1 credit
A Sample Essay and sample of a faculty evaluator旧 Grading Rubric are available to view online.

Autobiography: you are required to submit 1,500 to 2,100 word autobiography written in the first person; 12 point Times New Roman font; double spaced line spacing. Only one autobiography is required per student, a Sample Autobiography is available to view.
Supporting Documentation: you are also required to provide supporting documentation as evidence that your experience resulted in the level of expertise you portray in your essay. This can be in the form of licenses, certifications, and letters on letterhead with official signatures. You may also submit letters from employers, training providers, human resource representatives, friends and family who corroborate your knowledge or experience.

PLA also has an Experiential Learning Essay credit conversion process that provides the option for students to take an Experiential Learning Essay course description/topic designated to be awarded 3 credits and convert it to be eligible for either 1 or 2 credits, click here to find out more.
