Topic : The effectiveness of homeschooling in Malaysian setting.
Homeschooling in many advanced countries such as America, Canada and Australia was developed years ago. Lately, it becomes a popular trend among people in the world regardless their religious,cultural and races. Malaysia is one of the country that affected by this trend. Generally, it practiced in Malaysia 20 years ago and supported by christian institution. Infact, people in Malaysia just focus and try to figure it out just in recent time. To know it better we should know what it is all about? Homeschooling usually consists of one student who being taught by parent or hired teachers. For some reason,people are questioning about the effectiveness of homeschooling which is many people believe that bring much disadvantages rather than advantages. Every parent concern and want the best for their children especially in education because it will determine their future. The changes of life style lead to many issues in our life like the emerged of social ill among the teenagers. School as a social institution gives a huge impact on students, and some people look it as a catalyst to social ill and influence teenagers in many way. The feeling of insecurity lead parent to come up with other alternative which is homeschooling to save their children form social ill. Malaysia as an example, society itself looks school as a place which is all social ill “develop” faster and start pointing finger to the school,teachers and students. Further, Malaysian education system required all children whereby aged 7 until 12 years old to be sent at school to have a proper education and follow the syllabus provided by our ministry of education. However, there are small group of people do not believe our education syllabus and system and choose to following other advanced countries’s syllabus which is more convince. Another things with homeschooling is the higher achivement level for students, the reasons are parents
