Home Sweet Home
There is no place like my home. My home is a welcoming and secure environment that is perfect for both entertaining guests and just a quiet night of pure relaxation. My home is a place where I find myself feeling safe and loved. The interior and exterior of my house is very unique, because my dad designed it, and I am very grateful to live where I do. As I cruise down Riverton Drive I pass by my old high school, James River. Before turning onto my street, just ahead is the entrance to Robious Landing Park where I spent a lot of my childhood memories. Winding down my peaceful street I reach my residence. As I pull into the beautiful cobblestone drive-way, I always admire the unique formation of my home. The exterior of my house is all brick and the yard is landscaped with beautiful trees and shrubs. As I get out of my car, I routinely make my way to the back door, walking under the tangle vine arbor onto the stone patio. The patio is made for outdoor gatherings and has comfortable furniture to lounge on. It also has a large stone fireplace and a grill for barbeques. My favorite part about my backyard is our garden, where we grow fresh fruit and vegetables to eat. Entering through the back door is the living room. The sudden aroma of my house smells of cinnamon and is always comforting. My living room consists of my dad’s favorite leather chair, a substantial love seat, a delightful cream colored couch, and a 64 inch flat screen TV. This is where my family and I like to take a load off after a long day. If I had to describe my houses theme it would be fall mainly because of its tasteful decorations and calming color scheme. All of the creams, browns, and reds make it that way. On the wall in my living room hang October, November, and January paintings. These months stand for me, my dad, and my older sister’s birthdays. A large arch way opens up to the wine colored kitchen area, which is my favorite place in my house. The grayish granite marble

Numerous modern literary works rely on setting to ignite the plot and enhance the readability of a story. Oftentimes an author incorporates his own opinions and perspective into his literature to better portray the experiences of his characters. In Sue Monk Kidd 's The Secret Life of Bees, David Guterson 's Snow Falling on Cedars, and Jhumpa Lahiri 's Interpreter of Maladies, diaspora makes it difficult for the characters to assimilate to the new customs and moral convictions of each new environment.…

Where would home be to me? Home would be in Pocahontas County, WV, in a little place called Buckeye. It is also known to be my parents’ house and where I grew up at. Why do I love this place so much? For the reason it has the most beautiful views and it is so peaceful and quiet. It is way back in the country. It also overlooks the river and the mountains across the river. It also has a big field that has different species of wildlife in it. There are also some many beautiful animals that are around my mom and dad’s house. I love to sit there and watch the animals run, play, and eat. I also like to just go out and sit and think about things and just get away from everything for a little bit. It is everything that you would think of.…

Once we had reached the point where we could see our house in all its glory, Mike let go of my palm and we both stared. To say the cottage was small would be an understatement. It was a two story cottage, with brown bricks and an adorable red chimney. There were two steps which lead to the front porch, and on its two sides were a couple pots of peonies. Our new lawn albeit small had a lovely appearance with freshly cut green grass and tall sturdy oak tree perfect for climbing in. Nobody asked me what I thought of it, so I was relieved of the burden of coming up with the words to describe my…

My favorite place is my bedroom because it’s the more comfortable place in my house when I’m tired and not feeling the best or maybe even need to relieve stress, I can go to my room and lay down and relax. My room is very spacious, quiet, relaxing, and cozy, I admire my room a lot because I can use my imagination while I just lay down in bed and close my eyes and think about things that are exciting. My room speaks a peaceful haven to me, my walls are light pink with matching boarder around the walls, with matching hello kitty comfortable set which make my room stand out a lot along with my pink pillows that my grandmother made for me years ago before she died in 2006 that I just cherish the most and won’t trade my pillows for anything in the world. My room is a common bedroom with a bed, TV, DVD player, stereo, laptop, and a fish tank, and a bookshelf with a lot of lovely books and magazine that I love to read. My room has a calming color along with a clean strawberry scent that I have always loved to vaporize my room with a wonderful scent, because the smell of the scent helps me to stay focus with whatever I’m doing and to just relax peacefully without any concern. My room gives a sense of security in a way that I can control who goes in and out my room, because my room holds all of my personal belongings which is very important to me, because I have things that can benefit me now and in the future, and my kids will probably benefit from some of my personal belongings in the near future. I can also go to my bedroom when I need to study for a quiz or submitted an assignment before midnight for school. I also can go to my room if I just want privacy by shutting my door and locking it, and telling others to do not disturb. I love the view that I have from my bedroom, because my window faces he water feature in my apartment complex hat makes it so beautiful to look out the window day or night and to be able to stand on the balcony and view he…

First of all, the exterior of my home would look like something off the cover of a magazine. A large wrought iron gate would open up and lead one into a circular driveway with a fountain in the center surrounded by colorful flowers. The front of my home is a tan and white brick mixture with an array of differently shaped shrubs in front. Two large chimneys shoot out from the top above a gray slanted roof. As one walks through the brown framed stained glass door, he enters into the illuminated front hallway. A large double staircase with dark oak panels and a shimmering chandelier above comes into view. The downstairs of my home consists of the living room, dining room, kitchen, and a library.…

There are hundreds of people, young and old that live in my apartment complex and each of them have a different and unique story to share. My story is that I come from the typical middle-of -nowhere suburbia, where the grass is always green, and all of the houses look the same. In that community it is easy to become too comfortable, and forget that things aren't so "perfect" in the rest of the world. When my step-dad past away, we sold the house and moved into town changing the way I lived my life. The city feels like a different community and it seems to have a different atmosphere than the one where I came from. While writing this paper, it is my objective to become comfortable with my surroundings, and accept this community as mine.…
