Guidelines for the Completion of Caribbean History SBA
❖ Please note that the guidelines that follow are to assist you; therefore, they should be followed. However, if you are unclear about anything pertaining to what you have to do, it is your responsibility to seek the necessary assistance from your subject teacher. CXC Caribbean History Examination Outline
The CXC History Paper consists of three parts:
1. Paper 1­ Multiple Choice (Questions will be chosen from the Core)

2. Paper 2 – Essay Type Questions (2 Questions will be set on the
NINE
themes. You are required to
ANSWER THREE QUESTIONS, ONE FROM THE THREE
THEMES YOU WILL DO IN CLASS)
3. Paper 3­ School Based Assignment (This will be based on the Core or one of the

Themes being studied)
The THREE THEMES that will be covered in class are:
Section A
❖ Theme 3 — Resistance and Revolt

Section B
❖ Theme 4 — Metropolitan movements towards Emancipation.

Section C
❖ Theme 7 — The United States in Caribbean 1776­1985.

❖ The SBA component of this examination is crucial. If you fail to submit a SBA, you will fail the entire examination. The SBA component is worth 20% of the overall examination mark.

SBA Format
Your SBA should be formatted to meet the standard of the APA (American Psychological
Association). The APA style governs how one cites the sources they used to gather information (books, internet….), the font size, and line spacing etc……. Hence, your SBA should have:
❖ A Cover Page. This should have:

a.

Name of Examination

b. The Topic c. Your Name, d. Your CXC Candidate Number e. The name of your School f. The School CXC Code
❖ Table of Contents with page numbers
❖ Appendix (Where necessary)
❖ Bibliography
❖ Font Size

❖ Font Style
­ Times New Roman
❖ Line Spacing­
Double
