History
Education is the key to success, through education all things are deemed possible. Growing up it was drilled inside my skull to do excellent in school. But an obstacle stood in my path, the fact that I learned slower than others. Many children made fun of me for this struggle. Dedicated to improving academically I took all the insults as motivation to do better. My parents enrolled me into Saturday school in the fifth grade for about 3 years. Till this day, that decision has been the most significant impact in my life. While attending Saturday school, my class level skyrocketed, my FCAT scores aggrandized, and my vocabulary changed from average to extravagant
Due to all the hard work I put in over my years. My teachers constantly notified my parents saying anything less than honors courses would be an insult to my intelligence and potential. These classes made me use my brain a little bit more because of the tighter windows to submit the work and the faster pace the class would go through. But this was just another challenge that I knew I had to overcome, the harder a situation gets the more motivated I am to succeed
Not only did these classes enable me to take more rigorous courses, but they also allowed my vocabulary to flourish to levels unknown. Although, these classes were mainly for FCAT preparation, the words I learned I’m quite sure would leave some adults utterly puzzled. With a luxuriating vocabulary at a young age, minor passages just became easier and easier. This also paved the way for me to be one of the few seventh graders who were fortunate enough to get early SAT practice.
As a result of all this hard working just to overcome the lag in my learning, I have been raised to never make an excuse for any situation but to instead work 110% harder at the goal in hand. Without the incredible work ethic instilled in me at such a young age. I don’t believe I would be in a position in which I could apply to this egregious organization. Opportunities like this are seldom, that’s why I’ll always take advantage of them if they’re offered to me.

When I was in high school I was regarded by my family and teachers as a bright student. My mom always bragged about my report card because I received mostly A's and a few B's. I graduated with a 3.86 GPA. I went on to attend Sacramento City College where I did not make it past the first semester. I was devastated to realize that what I had relied on in high school to excel did not work for me in college. I lacked the tools necessary to continue in my education. A person's education cannot be measured by the mark they receive in a given test or class, but rather by their ability to understand, solve, and apply the solution to the problems and challenges they are presented with in life.…

By the time I entered high school, my relatively poorer English skills prevented me from doing homework efficiently and making friends. After half a year, my teachers noticed how depressed I was. I began striving for excellence, because I realized that my dedication and hard work would ultimately be recognized and rewarded.…
