RESEARCH IMPLICATIONS OF THE
CASE STUDY AND UNDERSTANDING
THE DISEASE

UNDERSTANDING HOW THE BRAIN
WORKS
Parkinson's disease is usually slowly progressive over time (years). The advancement is assessed by the symptom severity and other measures such as mental function, behavior, mood, motor functions, and the ability to complete daily activities (self-maintenance, independence) as measured by the
Unified Parkinson's Disease Rating
Scale. These evaluations give physicians clues as how to best manage and treat the individual
(Michael Andrew Fox, 2014).

The section of the cartoon “Iron Constitution”, that is about Sparta, will be analyze. It is part of “The Cartoon History of The Universe” that was written by Larry Gonick in 1977. He was one of the most well-known and respected cartoonist since his beginning in 1970 (Gonick,L.2012). In the cartoon “Iron Constitution” from Larry Gonick, you can find a lot of information about the society of Sparta, the way they lived, etc.; the information seems mostly complete but with a few missing details that could make the reader understands better the history of this population. In this critique, the elements that seem doubtful or incomplete will be examined on few points of view and then will be compare with the information found in other sources, such as book, article and scholarly websites. The three main points that will be discussed, to be able to judge the accuracy and the historical content of the cartoon, are the place of women in their society, the homosexuality and the Sparta soldiers, what also includes the training they have to make to become a soldier.…

On September 3, 2008, the Coca-Cola Company offered to buy China Huiyuan Juice Group, the nation’s largest juice maker (which is listed in Hong Kong), for 17.92 billion Kong Kong dollars in cash. The acquisition was halted by Chinese regulator. On March 18, 2009, the Ministry of Commerce (MOC) announced that Coca-Cola’s bid to acquire Huiyuan failed to meet the country’s anti-monopoly law. Huiyuan gained 149 percent from the time before the offer announcement to the day before the ministry’s announcement. In mid 2008, in preparation for negotiation with Coca-Cola for a possible deal, the chief financial officer (CFO) of Huiyuan, Mr. Francis Ng, worked to evaluate the intrinsic value of his company. He started with financial planning. In this question, suppose you are the CFO and work on the three-year financial forecast for the period of 2008-2010. With the provided balance sheets and income statements of the years 2005-2007 (available on the course webpage), answer the questions using suitable historical average percentages (of sales). Corporate income is expected to be taxed at the marginal tax rate of 25%. Long-term debt to be paid off in 2008, 2009, and 2010 will be $105 million, $83 million, and $78 million, respectively. (a) Complete the forecast table, using historical average parameters wherever applicable. When external capital is needed, the firm plans to raise equity capital (by selling new shares) to meet the requirement. On the other hand, excess cash occurs when the sources of capital are more than the uses of capital. Assume that cash does not earn interest. Determine Huiyuan’s free cash flows (and cash flow components) for each year. (b) Complete the forecast table under the following conditions: (i) Sales will grow at 24% per year. (ii) The sales percentage for other current liabilities is expected to decline to 41% in future years. (iii) Because of high uncertainty in the timing and the cost of raising equity…

Case studies for use in Groups (First in first served! Once a group has chosen a case study, it is no longer available for another group. Choose carefully, some are more difficult than others, offering the chance to shine! Remember: you need to carry out ethical due-diligence. Good recommendations foresee different possible outcomes and challenges.) 1. You are a management team at a bank that is feeling competitive pressures: the financial crisis has made international borrowings more expensive and senior management are pushing for more ideas to increase earnings. A member of the team proposes changing many previous “free” offerings to “fee-based” offerings, such as automatic-teller use, teller services and cheque overdrafts. Competitors are charging their customers $20 for overdrafts, a process which really costs about $2. The majority of customers with cheque overdrafts have very small accounts. This tends to be true of those who use teller services, too. Tellers commonly are of the opinion that they are people who feel very uncomfortable with the internet. What recommendations does your team make with respect to the proposal? 2. A long-time customer approaches has approached a team-member for financing for a new business venture. The customer offers as collateral a piece of property he has purchased in a rural location for the purpose of building a housing development. An appraiser was sent to the property and she accidentally discovers that this property has had some toxic waste dumped on it. It would appear that the customer is unaware of the fact but there is reason to believe that the waste may leech into the water table and affect neighbouring land. The appraiser's recommendation was to go ahead with the financing, accepting the property as collateral, saying, “It is up to the authorities to regulate waste, not us. If the owner doesn't know about it, there is no reason why we should know either. We can't be responsible for every spill around the country.”…

Karen has frequently sought medical assistance for a problem that does not exist physiologically. She interprets her aches and pains as severe, and they seem to persist despite visiting her doctor multiple times, having had tests and CAT scans that reveal no physiological known cause. She has an aversion to hospitals and feels being in them puts her at risk of contracting many other diseases. Frequent use of hand sanitizer is suggestive of an obsessive compulsion to keep herself free from germs. The wearing of sunglasses to block out the florescent lights, is also suggestive of an obsessive desire to protect herself…

At the end of 2008, Interior Department Chief Earl E. Devaney launched investigations into allegations of misconduct by employees of the Department of Minerals Management Service (MMS), which collect royalties paid by companies to produce oil and gas from public lands through royalty in form. Program officials have allowed the buyer agency sell gas and oil to check the offer down after they were awarded the contract of purchase. Agency workers are exposed to the "culture of substance abuse and promiscuity" and "world-account-fueled spending oil and gas executives' in MMS. In addition, MMS considers' organization of the work that has been a question mark with a conflict of interest, and free unprofessional behavior for all situations. Alcohol is often used in industry councils, cocaine and marijuana, and had sexual relationships with representatives of the oil and gas companies. Comfortable in the process of developing professional relationships, employees royalty-type program also took inappropriate gifts from industry contacts. Socialize with industry representatives is just a function of their participation in the culture industry, and they assured the investigators that the relationship had no effect on the performance of their officials duties. Two months later, MMS, which is also regulated offshore oil drilling activities adopt the plan for drilling in the Gulf of Mexico produced by petroleum giant BP to assure the agency that the environmental damage from the spill anywhere would be "minimal or nonexistent". Predict the worst case spill 1500-4600 barrels. MMS approved BP's plan to set a cement plug to the temporary closure of wells with only a 90-minute telephone conversation between the MMS and BP officials. BP declares MMS application 'categories excluded "from environmental analysis and give oil companies the green light in early April. On 20 April, a giant oil rig exploded in the new facility approved BP…
