Hispanic American Diversity

Hispanic or Latino American is a diverse population that has common language heritage but have many significant differences. Latinos consist of several major groups throughout the United States; Mexican Americans, Puerto Ricans, Cubans.   Recently an increase in Immigrant and refugees from Central and South American have established and spread across the United States.   More than one out of eight people in the United States are Hispanic or Latin origin. It is estimated by the year 2100 that one third of the population will be of Hispanic or Latin origin.
The poverty level for Hispanics includes Puerto Ricans at 23.7 percent and Mexican Americans at 23.6 percent and for Columbians it remains low at 10 percent. The average income for Mexican Americans is at $27,877 and for Puerto Ricans is about $33,927 a year. For Cubans it is roughly $30, 444. The income for the Hispanic American is lower than that of other ethnic groups.
As far as the political arena goes views differ amongst Latino’s depending on where they live and their background. However, the majority identifies or helps support the democratic side and about 23 percent side with the Republicans. Cuban Americans for instance lean more towards the conservative side while Puerto Ricans and the Mexican Americans are on the side of the liberal view point. Hispanics in the West lean more towards the democrats especially during elections ever since Bill Clinton. Bill Clinton had the support of 72 percent of the Hispanic population. In the southern states to include Texas and Florida they tend to lean more towards the Republicans. Most Hispanic votes in the South favored George Bush during his run for president. Although the majority in the south favors the conservative a lot of votes were pretty much even throughout the state of Texas.   Once 911 happened and the war kicked off in Iraq views changed.
