Hispanic American Diversity
It is almost always believed that because you look Hispanic you are from Mexico. This is a misconception as we are not defined for how we look but where are we from. There are many nationalities that define how Hispanics differ from one another. Hispanic culture does have some similarities but the difference from each other is how we determine where Hispanics really do come from. In this paper we are going to go over the social, religious, familial, linguistic and social economical conventions and/or statuses among Mexican American, Puerto Ricans, Cubans and Guatemalans that reside in the United States.
We will begin speaking about Mexican Americans, also known as Chicanos. This is probably the most common known group of Hispanic residing in the United States. It does not really matter what part of the descendent of Mexican American is, one thing that they all have in common is their believed for the Roman Catholic Church. As of matter of fact, Mexican Americans believe that they have to follow the church’s rules to live their lives. They do this by following their existing believes on what is thought from when they are small children, they base this on sexual, education, and politics. As most Hispanics, Spanish is their primary speaking language. It is used amongst each other when they are at home, when attending church, family gatherings and for entertainment. The English language is usually spoken at Schools; place of employment or in between small children that attend schools. Poverty is at a very high elevated rate between these groups, usually this is because of undocumented illegal workers. Because of the current immigration laws, it is very difficult for Mexican Americans to obtain legal residency in the United States and as a result, they are left with not many choices for employment.
