India’s art served the purpose for the people of that time who were illiterate.   The art was sacred text put to sculpture, paintings, dance, and temples.   Art was considered spiritual technology. The dual purpose of the art was to inform and transform.
The motif to Hinduism is the claim that you can have what you want.   And what we want is summed up to be: 1. Pleasure, 2. Success, power, wealth, and fame, 3. Behave responsibly, 4. Liberation.   After these wants are the different stages of life: 1. Youth, 2. Householder, 3. Retirement.
Dr. Smith’s poem about India was one of admiration.   He spoke of India’s ability to touch the people and India’s ability to woo the people.
Dr. Smith’s initial interest with Buddhism came from the chanting of the monks.   The Lamas chanted fifteen hours a day for four days.   The fascination was with the ability of the human voice to make those tones and chords.   Multi-phonic was the name given to the chanting He considered it Spiritual Technology.   Deity plus the Lamas plus the sound equal one holy chord.
The Buddhist came to the U.S. and taught their culture, art work, and chanting.
The chant master was a Buddhist monk who even in his sixties could sing three tones simultaneously.
The core of ones being is the Buddha.   Buddhism began as a man. Buddha is considered to have androgynous qualities.   His nature is one who goes through rough times but yet comes out with affirmation.
Buddhism is thought to be fast growing in popularity because of the disciplines of inward searching, meditation and because of its psychological relationship. [continues]
