It was 8:45 in the morning and I fell asleep before the plane took off. We were supposed to be going to Los Angeles but we were going towards the North Tower but we were in the middle of turning around I dialed 911 and said “Hello police we are on flight eleven Boeing seven hundred sixty-seven and there are five hijackers, four here in the aisles and one flying the plane”.…
When I was young I always dreamed of flying on a plane. Finally, my dream was coming true, and I was on my way to the USA where I had always known I would end up. This was my first trip on an airplane, and it was also one of the most memorable experiences of my life. I remember everything about my first flight, and it was a lot to remember since it took twenty-seven hours from start to finish. The fight did have one stop in Japan, but that was just to change planes. Once my parents and I got onto the plane and sat down, I started to look at everything around me. I noticed the small white air vents right above my head with little lights next to the vent. It was so great because the controls were right on my armrest. There was a place on the armrest to plug the headphones in in order to listen to music or watch a movie. After everyone got settled into their seats, the airhostess came over the intercom and explained all of the safety procedures. But I am going to tell you; I couldn’t understand what they say, besides staring at their body language. They also showed everyone how to put the seat belts on correctly. After the airhostess was done with…
I began to pray, because that’s what I do when I get nervous. When the plane took off, I was relieved, that nothing bad happened. Soon after that my daughter…
For most of the 100 or so sleepy-eyed people boarding the U.S. Airways shuttle to Boston from New York on a recent hazy Saturday morning, the 35-minute flight could not have been a bigger non-event. But that was not the case for about 20 passengers clustered nervously near the gate. Many clutched puzzle books and bags of sour candy as though they held talismans. Some made nervous jokes, others sobbed quietly. “I have pills with me just in case of an emergency,” said a teenage girl who planned to distract herself on the flight with celebrity magazines. Mariasol Flouty, a 44-year-old software developer from White Plains, held fast to her Sudoku book. “I had plane-crash nightmares,” she confessed. “I woke up very tense.” No one was more terrified than Beth Brenner, a 45-year-old mother of two teenagers from Somers, N.Y. “I was hysterical last night,” she said, “but my son said, ‘You’re going to be O.K.’ ” Ms. Brenner was crying quietly on the…
We woke up bright and early Thursday morning, ready to drive to Boston for our trip. The drive was long, and painful, mostly because of the lack of air conditioning in my mother’s car, and even though it was 5:30 in the morning. It was late July so the heat was unbearable. When we finally got to the airport it was about 6:30am and we had almost an hour to get to through security, and onto our flight, but luckily we got a non-stop flight and we didn’t have to worry about layovers. When we got to our gate it was just about time to start boarding. We got on the plan and sadly got stuck in the back of the plane. Once we took off, I fell asleep and didn’t wake up until I heard the captain announce “We will be landing in Orlando in 30 minutes” I turned off my iPod and got ready for the coolest vacation I…
Because I was at the back, I couldn't tell what was going on in the first class section. Three people with red bandannas entered the cockpit. The had left one person outside of the cockpit who was holding something in his hand. After a minute or so, they came back out of the cockpit dragging two bodies behind them. They went back in the cockpit and within a minute we were told from the new pilot that they had a bomb on board. They allowed us to make phone calls. I was the first one to be able to make a call. My parents didn't pick up the phone, so I left a message telling them that my plane had been hijacked. After I left a message, I sat down in my seat and let others…
On June 12, 2006, I was ready to board my flight at San Diego International airport, when I was given a once in a lifetime experience. As I began to board, the captain and first officer were greeting the passengers ahead of me. The line was moving very slowly; however, I eventually made it to the front. The captain and I began talking when all of a sudden he asked a very typical question, “What do I want to be when I grow up?” I responded, “I want to be a pilot” and for no apparent reason offered to take me into the cockpit. Inside the cockpit, the captain continued to talk about the plane while pointing to instruments such as altimeter and vertical speed indicator, when I suddenly asked him, “How did he become a pilot?” He responded by saying,…
It was a nice sunny October day. I had no idea what would happen that day. I was watching the front doors of the Parliament Building with my fellow guard. We were making sure that people that could do bad things couldn’t get inside. I failed badly. I heard a loud gunshot and I suddenly had a slight headache and then was out forever.…
At this time one of the stewardesses came to me and gave me special form for US arrival security. I have a thing about filling out the forms and I felt happy. But after a while, I felt annoyed because of the many forms that I received. At last the airplane came to a bumpy landing. The airplane went over a long way and at the end parked near one of the floating aisles. German passengers talked with sleepy and deadpan faces which made me feel tired, unwilling to get up from my seat. The cabin's cold and timeworn air disturbed me during the nine hours flight. I thought that at least I could smell freedom after that, but still I could not smell anything in the air. Leaving the plane, I wobbled and I felt cramped.…
My heart sank to my stomach, as I hated to fly on planes. I couldn’t even fathom the thought that I was stuck on this plane forever. I rubbed my hand along the smooth armrest and gripped the end as tightly as I could, hoping this was all a dream. Unfortunately, it was not.…
I wake up from my sleep as the airplane is starting to descend. Once again I look down the window and see things that look like ants on their way to their home. Once the airplane descends more the ants looking things start taking the shape of cars and trucks driving down the freeway. Finally after just about five minutes the wheels of the airplane hit the ground and the captain of the flight gives the news that we have landed safe and on time. While we are waiting for the captain to tell us we could get off I start thinking of the things that might happen in my new…
The plane lurched forward and I edged it towards the runway. It’s wheels began to roll quicker and quicker as I pushed the throttle further away from me. I came close to the edge of the runway and pulled the control wheel backwards in towards my stomach, the plane shifted upwards, it’s nose pointed towards the sky and we began to fly. My stomach began to somersault as we gained altitude. I had never grown accustomed to the feeling of liftoff…
Suddenly I heard someone shout behind me. instinctively I looked around and was shocked to see two gunmen brandishing handguns and telling everyone in the bank to get down on the floor. I obeyed quickly. I was too stunned to feel any fear. I just lay down on the floor like the other customers.…
We got to the airport about an hour before the flight left so we could check our bags in and get through security my mom and dad said. We still had time after getting though security and my dad disappeared, when I asked where he was my mom said your will be back in time to get on the plain. Come to find out later this was only my dad’s second time on an air plane and he was more nervous than I was. He went to the bar to get some liquid courage pulsing through his veins. My dad got back in time and we boarded the plane my sister and I were fighting over who would get the window seat and of course I won because I was the youngest child. I sat down in my seat and my mom gave me a piece of gum and told me to keep chewing when we took off and landed. I wasn’t sure why but when we started to move and lift off the ground my ears started popping and as I chewed the popping wasn’t so bad. Finally after an hour the plane landed in beautiful Florida and it felt like I stepped through a time warp going from Ohio where it was 25 degrees to Florida where I was in the mid 80’s. We got into a taxi that took us up to a building and right across from the building was the biggest boat I have ever seen in my life and on the side in big white letters was “The Mistress of the Sea”. There she is my parents said as both my sisters and I were in total all. We walked into the building and went up a couple flights of steps and got our tickets, room number and keys. Then we went through a long hall way that leads you directly into the belly of the boat.…
I was very angry at the time as I had already been travelling for a day and just wanted to go home as quick as I could. I was tired and frustrated . If the members of staff had handled the situation better I wouldn’t of felt so angry and upset. I feel like they were not acting in a professional manner to keep all the passengers from getting agitated…
