Highland Park Middle School Information Technology Strategy
In an effort to be more effective, efficient and make learning easier, a website is being developed for Highland Park middle School. It is being designed to provide a more, communicative, intuitive and enjoyable experience to users, staff and faculty. The main idea is to have better technology utilization and curriculum integration for the anticipated 600 new students and staff at Highland Park Middle School. The focus is to provide its enhanced curriculum for all teachers, parents and students to access on line anytime and anywhere; to provide excellent resources for the immediate audience.
We have in mind to use a Content Management System (CMS) called School Script and use on the template, the same Color Scheme (Blue and yellow) that HPMS has been using for years.
A) We have in mind to make the website accessible to a broad range of internet users, and allow for variance in browser technologies. The school's website must also be sensitive to the needs of internet users with visual and motor disabilities.
B) Automation of accessibility requirements is amongst the many features available on the site. We also have in mind to use blogging utilities.
C) We will implement a structure that allows users to easily navigate through the major topic areas of the site. When the user is in such an area, they are presented side navigation topics developed specifically for that area. This simple interface will help users find the information they are seeking quickly and easily without being inundated by overly complex and confusing navigation schemes. This navigation structure is consistent throughout the site and allows users to find most information, on average, in two to three mouse clicks from the homepage.
