Case Study 2:Florida Company Fastens
Robert Kilbey started out selling medical supplies out of his twenty-four –foot trailer and forty-two years later his son, Bryan Kilbey due to good business practices was able to expand the business by taking it internationally and building a new 100,000 square foot building.
Three elements that impact Professional Products’ growth would include taking the company internationally and building a new sales office for the European market, producing a new closure instead of the common laces and hook-and-eyes, and a fast turnaround time from order to shipping Professional Products can fill an order in 4 ½ hours. One strategy that would keep the organization from downsizing would be cross training employees to do other jobs will help with job security. Human Resources have to maintain a healthy relationship between Professional Products and its employees by providing assistance to employees that are working internationally. Cross-training helps all employees with job security as long as you know how to do another employees job you are valuable to the company. The need for highly specialized employees is valuable to the company due to the new technology and equipment used to stream line production. Some HR strategies that Professional Products might use to ensure a productive work force if they are forced to outsource work would be to shorten the work week so that no employees will be laid off due to lack of work. Domestic and global markets are high in demand and that may cause Professional Products to outsource some of its work to Mexico or Honduras to keep from laying employees off from work.
